In simple words, this allows the possessor of this eye to see in infer-red, otherwise known as heat, effectively allowing them to keep track of their opponents by seeking out the heat their bodies leave behind. While this removes some of the depth one would ordinarily get from normal vision, the other eye covers for this and keeps the brain fed with the different streams of information. Giving them a cohesive picture for them to choose from, and thus deduce their stratagem.

With the application of this lens, it allows the user to see chakra, not as accurately as either or any of the Doujutsu, but it allows them to see it and excessive quantities will show up similar to a fire or the like. Normally the user of this will see a faint glow where chakra is, it is possible to determine the elemental structure of the jutsu, as well as the rank, which is determined by the 'glow' of the jutsu. Additionally the user can be slightly compromised by the fact that they have to be within five meters of the user to see any of this, this is helped along by the zoom function however, reducing the risk of getting caught in the jutsu.

Once this lens filter is clinked into placed and activated, it allows the user to focus their vision onto one specific area, and increase their perception of that one area. Once they are committed to this they loose focus of the big picture and thus are made more vulnerable. The degree unto which it focuses depends on the user, but it works in a similar fashion to a telescope or monocular in this case.
